UrbanABC Foodie Favourites Campaign: Savouring the Flavour of Our Urban Delights

The UrbanABC Foodie Favourites Campaign has taken us on a remarkable culinary journey since April. It has been an absolute pleasure to showcase 24 dine-in establishments located in the heart of our UrbanABC centres. From hotel restaurants to charming cafes, burrito bars to ice cream parlours, Asian Fusion to Indian Cuisine, the campaign has uncovered a world of gastronomic delights. In this blog post, we will recap the delectable offerings and highlight the importance of supporting these independent foodie businesses in the future.

A Culinary Adventure

Throughout the campaign, we have only scratched the surface of the diverse food options available in UrbanABC centres. Each establishment provided a sneak peek into their kitchens, revealing incredible dishes that have left our taste buds tantalised. From protein-packed and measured bagels to refreshing Acai Bowls, from low-calorie fries to mouth-watering pizzas and pastas, there is something to satisfy every palate. We have relished locally sourced steaks, savoured burritos and tacos bursting with flavours and indulged in delights like Lamb Monsopond and Jinga Chicken Tikka. The Asian Fusion dishes have taken us on an exotic journey, while ice creams, scones, and tray bakes have added a delightful touch of sweetness to our foodie adventures. We have even learned how to create delicious chicken skewers, a delightful duck dish and homemade pepper sauce. And let’s not forget the wide selection of cocktails, mocktails, local beers, ciders, wines and vodka that have perfectly complemented our dining experiences.

Supporting Independent Foodie Businesses

The importance of supporting independent foodie businesses cannot be overstated. By dining in these establishments, we not only enjoy good food and great hospitality but also contribute to the growth and sustainability of our local communities. These businesses are the backbone of our urban centres, adding character and vibrancy to our neighbourhoods. In supporting them, we help create employment opportunities and foster a sense of community. Moreover, independent foodie businesses often champion local produce, supporting local farmers and suppliers and promoting sustainability. So by choosing local, we actively contribute to a more vibrant and sustainable food ecosystem.

Food Heartland

The Foodie Favourites campaign has proven to be a remarkable showcase of how the Food Heartland initiative is effectively utilised throughout the hospitality industry. As an integral part of the ABC Council’s efforts to support local agricultural and food businesses, the Food Heartland Network has provided a distinct platform for these entities to collaborate and propel the local agri-food sector forward. Through the Foodie Favourites campaign, restaurants, cafes, and other food establishments have promoted their use of locally sourced produce and therefore have celebrated the region’s exceptional culinary offerings, further highlighting the strength and diversity of the local food scene. This collaborative approach has not only boosted local businesses but also fostered a sense of community and pride in the area’s rich food heritage.
