Banbridge is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for a musical extravaganza featuring the talented Ryan McMullan headlining this year’s BuskFest. This renowned international busking competition, marking its 20th anniversary, draws crowds from all over Ireland, offering participants a chance to compete for a £3000 prize and perform at the Stendhal Festival.

The spotlight shines on Co Down’s own rising star, Ryan McMullan, a gifted singer-songwriter who has shared stages with music icons like Ed Sheeran, Snow Patrol, and Kodaline.

Ryan McMullan’s musical talent shines brightly in Northern Ireland’s vibrant music landscape. Hailing from Portaferry, a charming seaside town, this singer-songwriter brings a fresh and captivating sound to the industry. His voice, reminiscent of Paolo Nutini and early Tom Waits, is a rare gem that resonates with rich storytelling and emotional depth.

In a region known for producing songwriting legends like Foy Vance and Iain Archer, Ryan McMullan stands out as a promising artist on the rise. Despite his youth, Ryan’s ability to convey stories and emotions through his music is truly remarkable.

Having honed his craft through performances in local pubs, Ryan has recently garnered attention through successful support shows with acclaimed artists like Foy Vance and NEEDTOBREATHE. His debut EP, “Listen,” showcases his musical prowess and has received widespread acclaim during his recent tours.

Registration remains open until 21st June for the event on 22nd June, where musicians, bands, solo artists, and street performers will fill Banbridge with music. Winners will not only secure a spot at Stendhal Festival but also vie for prizes like £1000 for the Overall Winner and category awards such as Best Band, Individual, and Junior.

BuskFest has become a cornerstone event for Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council, showcasing musical talent and local heritage. Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Sorchá McGeown, praises the competition’s growth into an international platform nurturing emerging artists.
