Live, Laugh, Love, Eat in UrbanABC

Either the often-used saying ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ needs amending to read ‘Live, Laugh, Love, Eat’ – or we can assume the person who came up with it thought eating was already an integral part of all of the above. Either way, here at UrbanABC, we love food and we’re prepared to shout about it! Our borough has it all, from locally sourced, artisan dishes to fresh-and-fabulous street food to just-baked cakes and pastries and good, old-fashioned takeaway foods. There’s so much to choose from.

Our six urban centres are brimming with fantastic foodie hotspots. Read on for an overview of the brekkie, lunch and dinner, light bites and big meal offerings in each area.

Armagh City

Armagh City is home to an array of award-winning restaurants, artisan coffee shops, traditional tea rooms and venues serving locally sourced, seasonal produce. You’ll also find fine dining at our two city centre hotels and a great choice of restaurants located throughout the city. Plus, many of our licensed hospitality businesses offer seasonal locally produced food, brunch, lunch, and cocktails, seven days a week.

Banbridge

Expect to be spoiled for choice. Modern bistro food, woodfired pizza, Thai, Indian, independent bakeries, coffee shops and cafes – plus two dessert bars, specialising in ice cream and cookies that are sure to hit the sweet spot.

Craigavon

Roll up, roll up, lovers of freshly roasted coffee, homecooked food, locally sourced cuisine and unique bakes. You’ll find an eatery with your name on in the form of one of this urban centre’s many cafes, delis and independent coffee shops. It’s a hive of family dining fun, too, with more affordable high street restaurant chains to choose from than you can shake a slice of pizza at.

Dromore

Whether it’s freshly cooked local cuisine, fine dining, or a casual lunch in a secret garden that takes your fancy, Dromore has you covered. You’ll find countryside cafes serving up fresh homemade food in the fresh air and all your favourite casual eats and fast-food favourites – from eat-in pizza and pasta to traditional takeaways, and Chinese and Turkish food. Meanwhile, coffee lovers will enjoy taste-testing Dromore’s selection of independent coffee shops.

Lurgan

A visit to Brownlow House – AKA ‘the castle’ – is a must-do, for many reasons, but not least, its grand, ornate tearoom, which overlooks the lush surroundings of Lurgan Park. Go there for Earl Grey served with lemon and exquisite treats. Also on the menu in Lurgan: modern bistro food with craft gins in fashionable surroundings; rustic steaks in country settings; brilliant baristas serving hot coffee and just-baked treats in trendy coffee shops, and modern cafes rustling up locally sourced dishes. Plus, you can expect cosy pubs for fish and chips and good old-fashioned fries, along with burgers, pizzas and all your favourite take-outs.

Portadown

Visit Portadown for family-friendly restaurants, bars with cool cocktail lists, pubs with live music, a hotel with high tea, and artisan Italian offerings. You’ll find a range of Indian and European eateries to choose from, too.
