Sector

Location

Armagh City is the “Home of St Patrick.'' We have countless links with the patron saint of this island and are the only city in the world to have two Cathedrals named after the same saint. On this leisurely walking tour we delve into the history of St Patrick and his connection with both Cathedrals (we do not go into any buildings).

En route we can appreciate the wonderful panoramic views of this city, the ecclesiastical and spiritual capital of Ireland. You will hear why St Patrick chose this as the location to build his first Stone Church in 445 AD and be regaled with myths, legends as well as some unusual and quirky facts surrounding St Patrick. At the end of the tour you will be given additional links for looking deeper into our history and that of this famous Saint.
This event takes place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March and lasts 90 minutes.
Starting Point: Shambles Yard car park, in front of the Johnston Building, Cathedral Road.
Finishing Point: The Friary near entrance to the Palace Demesne.

Moderate level of fitness required to walk this route of approx 1 mile with some gradient, walking shoes and all weather clothing recommended.
