Coming from a long lineage of folk musicians, Dan McCabe began his career in live music at an early age. With a passion for performance, he quickly established himself in the industry, turning music into his full-time job.
However, the Covid-19 lockdown presented unprecedented challenges, halting live performances and leaving many artists in a tough spot. In response, Dan shifted his focus to social media, posting videos for fun and as a means of escape from the pandemic’s gloom. To his surprise, these recordings garnered over 12 million views, capturing the attention of senior producers at RTÉ.
After multiple sold-out shows at the Armagh City Hotel, Dan McCabe is set to return on Saturday, 8th March 2025. His breakthrough moment came during the summer of 2020 when he performed a heartfelt rendition of Luke Kelly’s ‘Song for Ireland’ on RTÉ’s The Sunday Game, paying tribute to healthcare workers. This segment quickly went viral, significantly boosting Dan’s online following and leading to appearances on various television programs.
A defining highlight of Dan’s career occurred on New Year’s Eve, when he was invited to perform at Áras an Uachtaráin by President Michael D. Higgins. There, he delivered a moving rendition of ‘The Parting Glass’ following the Presidential New Year’s Speech, honoring those who lost their lives to Covid-19.
In the wake of these experiences, Dan released his debut album, “Dan McCabe – Songs for Ireland (The Lockdown Laments),” featuring songs that resonated with audiences during the lockdown.
Join us for an unforgettable evening with Dan McCabe at the Armagh City Hotel and witness the rise of a truly talented artist.
