In November, several ‘Community Support Hubs’ will open their doors, offering confidential help, support, and advice to residents, along with a warm welcome and a cup of tea. Organised by Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council, these hubs will provide an invaluable opportunity for residents to connect with key support organizations.
The Community Support Hubs will focus on a range of important issues, including housing, food, fuel, universal credit, and general advice provision. Residents can expect to receive guidance tailored to their individual circumstances, ensuring that they have access to the right support when they need it most.
In addition to core support services, the Hubs will offer information on home safety, waste management, training and employability opportunities, and health and wellbeing resources. They will also serve as a signposting service, directing individuals to the appropriate organizations for further assistance.
Councillor Sarah Duffy, the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon, stated, “These new Community Support Hubs aim to provide a one-stop-shop for those within our borough who need advice and support around a number of issues as we try to navigate our way through the continued cost of living crisis.” She added, “It can be incredibly overwhelming to try and understand who can help you with what, so we are bringing as many key organizations as possible under one roof to simplify this process and ensure our residents can access all the advice they need.”
The Community Support Hubs will take place at Lurgan Town Hall, Portadown Town Hall, and Dobbin Street Community Centre in Armagh. They not only aim to provide essential services but also create a friendly environment where residents can enjoy a cup of tea and engage in meaningful conversations.
The Community Support Hubs will be open to anyone across the Borough and each location will run on a fortnightly basis.
