Millennium Court in Portadown is delighted to announce the opening of the Northern Lights Patchwork Quilt Exhibition on Saturday, 7th September at 2:00 PM. This beautiful exhibition showcases the artistry and craftsmanship of the Northern Lights Patchwork Group, they are a diverse cross-community collective of quilting enthusiasts from across Northern Ireland and beyond.
The exhibition will feature an extensive range of quilts, from large, full-sized pieces to smaller lap quilts, table runners, and centres. Visitors will also enjoy a selection of appliquéd wall hangings and repurposed clothing items, all reflecting the unique skills and creativity of the group’s members.
The Northern Lights Patchwork Group is open to individuals from all backgrounds who share a passion for needlework. The exhibition will not only highlight the group’s collective work but also focus on the individual projects that members have lovingly crafted in class and at home.
Over the years, the group has embraced the principles of sustainability, dedicating annual meetings to focus on eco-friendly practices. Patchwork and quilting, deeply rooted in the tradition of repurposing salvaged materials, have always been a sustainable art form. This exhibition pays homage to that heritage, showcasing how the age-old practice of turning scraps into beautiful, functional quilts continues to evolve in the modern world.
You are warmly invited to join us at the opening event on September 7th September to meet the artists, explore the beautiful quilts on display, and discover the timeless art of quilting.
