A Lurgan businessman is calling on local golfers to take part in a charity fundraising day aimed at raising awareness for Diabetes UK.
Chris Jelly, a PGA Professional golf coach, is hosting a charity day on 23 November between 10am – 4pm at Limitless Golf based in Lurgan.
Chris’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal. His passion for raising awareness about the illness was ignited by his wife, who has been living with the condition since she was just two years old.
By combining his love for golf with his desire to support those affected by diabetes, Chris hopes to raise funds that will aid in helping more individuals manage this serious condition.
Speaking to UrbanABC Chris said, “It’s a charity that means a lot to us. We have a lot of golfers who use the centre so we decided that aside of the personal reasons, this was something we wanted to help reach awareness of”.
In a bid to raise much needed funds for the charity Chris and wife Millie will be donating Saturday’s entire takings in aid of Diabetes UK.
“Millie has spent her entire life managing Type 1 diabetes, and she continues to learn and grow every day.
“Her confidence in living life on her own terms is truly admirable. I find her incredibly inspirational as she tackles daily challenges with determination, refusing to let diabetes control her path in life”.
“November is Diabetes Awareness Month and we wanted to do something meaningful. We would love to see the bays full on Saturday but even if people can’t come to play, they can still drop donations in” Chris continued.
