Tell us a bit about yourself and the business.

“My name is Niamh Lavery, I have been working in New Haven since I was 16 years old I am currently a student at University.

“My name is Aoife Mulholland, my family own New Haven and I have been part of the team here since I was 11.

“Jenny Mulholland is the owner of New Haven Cafe located at Windsor Avenue, Lurgan. I started New Haven 10 years ago after recognising the need for a casual cafe, a shop space near the park and operating all weekend.

“We are a café, bistro, ice cream parlour and gift shop.

“We bake and create all our dishes on site using our fantastic team of local staff”.

How did the business start?

“Jenny spotted the derelict building on Windsor Avenue which had been full of character and history.

“It had been a Department Store and previously the Baptist Church dating back to 1890.

“The renovations took 3 months, and in March 2015. The first employee was the Chef Joanne. We have grown and grown since then.”

Why is shopping local so important?

“Community is a big part of our focus. We all need to feel part of something and the café gives people a place to feel welcome and enjoy great food and coffee.

“Every morning in the café our regulars catch up with new friends they have met over breakfast. Young mums meet up to share experiences and even some people have had blind dates.

“Our library area allows people to come alone and read or “work from home” – still feeling part of the community”.

What do you love most about your town?

“It has to be the lovely town environment, people who care, plenty of young people, good facilities”.
