Tell us a bit about yourself and the business.

“My name is Carla Stevenson. I run House of Fireplaces on West Street in Portadown, alongside my brother Simon. We took over the business in 2024. Simon has been working here for 18 years and is well known locally for selling and fitting fireplaces to customers in the area.

“We’ve recently added social media platforms and built an online presence to complement our showroom on the street, and we’re excited to keep growing that”

How did the business start?

“The business has been well established for many years, but it came under new ownership and management in 2024. It’s very much a family business, and many customers return because they’ve worked with Simon before, either at a previous home or job.

“We take great pride in our reputation and the strong relationships we build with our customers”.

Why is shopping local so important?

“Shopping local is essential to keeping our town centres alive and supporting a strong local economy with jobs and opportunities for people from the area.

“When you shop local, money stays in the community and supports local people, who then reinvest it back into the area. We want vibrant, welcoming town centres with plenty to offer everyone”.

What do you love most about your town?

“What I love most about Portadown is the people—the connections and relationships with neighbours and customers. It’s great to support other local businesses who are in the same boat and to get to know them.

“Portadown is a fantastic place to live, work, and shop. I’m proud to be part of what’s happening here and to contribute to the local community”.
