One Lurgan business who has been tickling the taste buds of the towns residence has been given a seal of approval by the US Consulate.
A Taste of Philly, ran by four generations of females from the same family has been making headlines in recent months as their authentic home grown flavors has become the talk of the town. Now it seems the Lurgan business is being recognised further afield.
Posting on social media, US Consul General James Applegate said; “Was great to see in the weekend with a family from Philadelphia who have brought an authentic taste of ‘Philly’ to Lurgan. Lovely people & perfect cheesesteaks – just don’t mention the @steelers“

For Pennsylvanian born Nicole Doyle, making a life-changing decision during the Covid pandemic to relocate to Lurgan has really paid off. Yearning for a change, she left her job in the US to relocate to Northern Ireland with her husband and children.
Despite Northern Ireland’s culinary delights, Nicole’s children craved the flavors of their homeland. Fueled by determination, Nicole embarked on a mission to recreate their beloved dishes in their new Northern Irish home.
Nicole’s culinary journey took a significant step forward as she introduced her delectable dishes to the public through pop-up appearances at the esteemed Love Your Food Show and various bustling locations in Belfast. The enthusiastic and favorable feedback she garnered from these events served as a beacon, guiding her towards the realisation that the time had come to set up a permanent home for her creations at a standalone location.
However, sourcing ingredients hasn’t been easy and Nicole had to work with a local baker to produce a roll specially for Taste of Philly which follows the traditional American recipe. In addition to this, she has had to find a butcher who can slice the steak as thinly as it would be sliced in the US and she imports her meat for her Italian recipes directly from Italy.
With the doors only open a mere number of months, this culinary sensation has really taken Lurgan by storm and one things for certain – there’s no taste like home!
