The Live Here Love Here Small Grant Scheme is set to reopen for applications on August 27, 2024, presenting a new opportunity to secure funding for projects aimed at rejuvenating shared greenspaces that benefit both the community and the environment. This funding initiative has been a cornerstone for local community volunteers dedicated to environmental initiatives since its inception in 2014. An information event is also set to take place at Craigavon Civic Centre ahead of applications opening.

The core objectives of this grant scheme are multifaceted and impactful:

1. Enhancing civic pride and elevating the local environment by fostering the development of high-quality communal spaces.
2. Converting underutilised areas into lively community hubs by introducing habitats and enhancing accessibility for visitors.
3. Aligning actions and projects with the strategic vision of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful to drive positive change.
4. Promoting community health and well-being by enhancing and preserving public spaces.
5. Enhancing the local environment by combatting littering and dog fouling through community-driven efforts.
6. Providing support for environmentally conscious initiatives that aid individuals affected by reduced social interaction.

This initiative stands as a beacon for community-driven environmental action, emphasising the importance of shared spaces in fostering community engagement, environmental stewardship, and overall well-being. The upcoming application cycle promises to empower local initiatives dedicated to creating sustainable and vibrant spaces for all to enjoy.

Connecting Communities event will take place at Craigavon Civic Centre on 21st August 2024 between 7pm and 9pm , where the Live Here Love Here team will be available to offer advice and support on applying for Small Grant Scheme funding. It is highly recommended that you attend an in person or online event. This is a unique chance to link up with other like-minded people in your area, share ideas and best practice and come together to affect real change.

The Live Here Love Here team will be on hand throughout the evening for a friendly chat and for answering any questions that you might have. They will also be welcoming other local organisations along to the event to allow for wider introductions to the environmental sector in Northern Ireland.
