A new Reformer Pilates studio is set to open its doors in Portadown, taking over the former Hollywood Hair premises at 16 Church Street. This exciting addition to the town centre is overseen by by Jade Gillen, who brings her passion for fitness and wellness to the forefront of this venture.
Originally from Coalisland, Jade Gillen has always had a passion for fitness that began at a young age. Growing up, she attended St Patrick’s College Dungannon, where her favourite subject was Physical Education (PE).
With a strong foundation in PE, she developed not only her physical abilities but also a deep understanding of the importance of fitness in everyday life. This passion drove her to pursue a career that would allow her to inspire others to lead healthier lifestyles.
Jade’s commitment to fitness and helping others achieve their goals has led her to managing the new Reformer Pilates studio in Portadown.
Reformer Pilates has been gaining popularity for over 20 years, and for good reason. Jade describes it as “almost like resistance training with the benefit of a machine.”
This low-impact workout is designed to cater to individuals of all fitness levels, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their strength and flexibility.
Speaking to UrbanABC Jade says “one of the huge benefits to Reformer Pilates is you can complete a full gym workout on one of the machines,” highlighting the versatility and effectiveness of a class.
Jade’s journey in the world of fitness began in her teenage years when she proudly held the title of Kickboxing Champion of Ireland. With a lifelong passion for sports and physical training, she always knew that her career would revolve around fitness. However, realising that jobs in this sector weren’t easily attainable, Jade made a strategic decision to complete a course in Barbering, a profession she has enjoyed for the past seven years.
Despite her success in barbering, Jade’s love for fitness never waned. She had always been a fan of Matt Pilates, but when she discovered Reformer Pilates, her passion ignited into an obsession. This newfound enthusiasm led her to pursue further qualifications in Pilates, culminating in her completion of training in 2024.
Today, Jade is excited to share her knowledge and love for Reformer Pilates with the people of Portadown. With her diverse background in sports, barbering, and Pilates, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching. Jade is eager to help others discover the beauty and benefits of Reformer Pilates, making her mark in the fitness community.
“Customer service has always been a huge part of my career and with that comes it challenges. I live by the philosophy that the customer should be happy when they leave their place of service and will maintain this in my classes at Reform and Flow Pilates” says Jade
