Starting Monday, November 11, a new team of litter wardens will be patrolling the Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough.
In collaboration with District Enforcement Limited, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council is reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against littering, fly-tipping, and dog fouling.
The newly appointed four District Enforcement Officers will work alongside the existing four Environmental Wardens to conduct patrols throughout the Borough. Their duties include providing guidance and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices to those who violate littering laws.
This year alone, the Council has issued around a dozen Fixed Penalty Notices for fly-tipping incidents. Offenders caught fly-tipping will incur a hefty Fixed Penalty Notice of £400. Those who neglect to clean up after their dogs will face a fine of £120, as will individuals who drop litter.
Failure to pay these Fixed Penalty Notices will result in court action, with no reductions for early payment.
The new District Enforcement Officers will actively patrol all areas of the borough, including city and town centers, villages, parks, and open spaces. They will also address specific concerns in areas heavily impacted by dumping, litter, or dog fouling.
While the Council appreciates that most residents take pride in their surroundings, they remain steadfast in their commitment to hold accountable those who harm the environment, local wildlife, and the climate through littering offenses.
Residents can contribute to the fight against litter, fly-tipping, and dog fouling by reporting incidents through the ABC Council App, available on both the App Store and Google Play Store, or by contacting the Council’s Environmental Health team directly at 0300 0300 900.
