Lurgan’s historic sites, lakes and open spaces are a feast for the senses.

Make your first stop its historic Town Hall – a listed building built in 1868, which boasts traditional stonework and red railings. Not only does it house the tourist information centre, it’s also home to a 250-seat auditorium and exhibition spaces.

Take a stroll, get on your bike, or pull on your skates in Lurgan Park – the largest urban park in Northern Ireland, and arguably one of the prettiest. Here you’ll find cycling routes, animal wildlife, and a playpark – all just a hop, skip and a jump from Brownlow House and the town centre.

A visit to Brownlow House – AKA ‘the castle’ – is a must-do. A stunning country manor, it boasts a grand, ornate tearoom that overlooks the lush surroundings of Lurgan Park. It also features a museum in which you can learn all about the building’s history.

Head into the wilderness with a stop off at the 282-acre Oxford Island National Nature Reserve – a designated National Nature Reserve – and explore its network of walking trails wildflower meadows, birdwatching hides and ponds.

While you’re there you can pay a visit to Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, the Kinnego Bushcraft Centre and Kinnego Marina – home to the oldest sailing club in Northern Ireland. Golf lovers, there’s, Silverwood and Lurgan Golf Club too – perfect places to stay and play.
