In the heart of Lurgan lies a historic site that has been a cornerstone of the community for centuries. The Cellar Bar, standing proudly on this ground, holds a rich legacy that dates back to 1818, making it an integral part of Lurgan’s history.

Since 1845, only three families have overseen the operations of this esteemed establishment as Spirit Grocers and Publicans. The Donnelly family set the foundation in 1845, followed by the partnership of Donnelly & O’Neill in the 1900s until 1979. The McCann family took the reins in 1979, marking a new chapter in the bar’s illustrious history.

In December 1980, under the ownership of the McCann family, the premises were rebuilt, and The Cellar Bar was reborn. A significant milestone was achieved in 1981 when The Cellar Bar became the first Public House in Lurgan to introduce a food menu, revolutionizing the bar experience for patrons.

Today, The Cellar Bar transcends its traditional pub roots, evolving into a multifaceted establishment that offers not only a wide array of drinks but also top-quality home-cooked food and entertainment. The welcoming ambiance and genuine craic found within its walls have transformed The Cellar into a beloved community hub where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy good company and excellent fare.

With a legacy deeply intertwined with the fabric of Lurgan’s social scene, The Cellar Bar continues to uphold its reputation as a place where hospitality, delicious food, and conviviality converge, ensuring that everyone who walks through its doors feels a sense of belonging and warmth.
