Oggies Dessert Bar located on Rathfriland Street close to Solitude Park in Banbridge is here to bring back those sweet moments and create new ones for generations to come. Located beside their ice cream counter and till, Oggies’ pick n mix stand is a delightful treat supervised by their friendly staff.
A Sweet Legacy:
The inspiration behind Oggies comes from the owner, Darren Ogle’s, childhood connection to the sweet business. The family are no strangers to the confectionary business having previously owned a sweet shop in Donaghcloney. With his dad’s guidance and expertise, Darren has successfully carried on the family tradition and incorporated The Sweet Nook into Oggies.
“My dad owned a sweet shop in Donaghcloney from the start of the 80s until the early 90s called The Sweet Nook, he’s always been a great help advising me because he was in this business a long time before me.
“I’ve always wanted to include the sweet nook into Oggies in someway so this was the perfect opportunity to surprise my Dad” said Darren”.
Oggies’ Delightful Journey:
Prior to diving into the realm of mouthwatering treats and brain-freezing delights, Darren spent seven years working on the iconic show that had us all hooked – Game of Thrones. Since its inception in June 2019, Oggies Dessert Bar has captivated the taste buds and attention of dessert lovers. Their wide array of irresistible desserts has gained popularity on social media, enticing customers from far and wide. From delectable sundaes to mouthwatering milkshakes, Oggies has become a go-to spot for those seeking a sweet and indulgent experience.
Success:
At the age of 30, Darren has achieved remarkable success in the industry. The decision to venture into the ice cream business was inspired by a takeaway opportunity in Moira, which was conveniently located near a park. Recognising the growing popularity of ice cream, especially among younger people, Darren decided to create his own brand and make his mark in the industry.
Oggies has gone on to win Northern Ireland Best Takeway award with the NI Takeaway Awards.
