Newry Youth Performing Arts return to Armagh with Rock of Ages musical. In 1987, the iconic West Hollywood establishment, The Bourbon Room, stands as the vibrant heart of the Sunset Strip, embodying the essence of rock and roll. Managed by the laid-back former rock impresario Dennis Dupree and his mischievous assistant Lonny, the music venue, though weathered, pulsates with the energy of its heyday.
The arrival of Sherrie Christian, an aspiring actress from a small town, sparks a fateful encounter with Drew, a busboy at the Bourbon Room harboring dreams of rock stardom.
Rock of Ages bursts onto the scene as a dynamic homage to classic rock, showcasing bold ballads, electrifying guitar solos, and the raw allure of the Sunset Strip’s gritty glamour.
This jukebox musical reverberates with iconic ’80s hits like ‘We Built this City’, ‘I Wanna Rock’, and ‘Don’t Stop Believin’. Presented by a prominent amateur theatre group in Northern Ireland, this production promises a nostalgic journey through the era of rock anthems and rebellious spirit.
