A County Armagh teacher is set to enhance the world of athleticism for children with the opening of a new venture aimed at enhancing their cognitive and motor skills.

Sarah Loat a primary school teacher with St Matthew’s in Belfast has already successfully launched Mini Athletics in Gilford and Newry. The new opening at Armagh Harps GFC is going to be a fantastic opportunity for kids to have a blast while developing their athletic skills. Mini Athletics is all about fun, learning, and growth, and the sessions are tailored for different age groups to ensure that every child gets the most out of their experience.

Speaking to UrbanABC Sarah said, “Our dynamic classes at Mini Athletics are all about energy and imaginative play, focusing on essential athletic movements like running, throwing, and jumping. These fundamental skills not only promote physical fitness but also aid in the social, physical, and cognitive development of a child”.

Opening on Saturday 14th September, the sessions available at Armagh Harps GFC cater to various age groups, starting with Teeny Athletes for walkers to 2 years old. The fun begins at 10:15 am with these little ones exploring movement and play in a safe and engaging environment.

Following that, Didee Athletes for 2 to 3½ years old will kick off at 10:45 am, where kids can further enhance their motor skills and coordination through exciting activities.

Little Athletes, designed for 3½ to 5 years old, take the spotlight at 11:30 am, offering a blend of fun and learning to keep the young ones active and entertained.

Lastly, Mini Athletes, tailored for 5 to 7 years old, wrap up the day at 12:15 pm with dynamic sessions that aim to build strength, agility, and confidence in our budding athletes.

Continuing Sarah said, “I am a Primary School Teacher and a mum to two boys and a little girl so I know how much energy kids have and see every day the needs to develop fitness levels as well as young minds. The classes are specially designed classes for each age group ranging from Walking – 7 Years of age”.

Each session is priced between £8 to £8.50, ensuring that families can enjoy quality athletic programs at an affordable price. The rolling nature of the sessions allows flexibility for parents and guarantees that children can join in the fun whenever they are available. Mini Athletics is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where children can thrive and discover the joy of being active.

“We offer a taster session to allow parents the chance to see if their child will enjoy it. As a mum I know that kids will take on everything not understanding the financial implications if they don’t continue. These taster sessions are an opportunity to see have they interact with it. After the taster session, parents have a grace period of 24 hours to complete their sign up, with a space pre-booked”.

One of the unique aspects of Mini Athletics is the themed weeks, which add an extra layer of excitement to the sessions. The first week at Armagh Harps GFC is set to be a thrilling adventure as we kick off with the Super Heroes theme. It’s all about unleashing creativity and imaginative play, where kids can embody their favourite heroes, conquer challenges, and have a blast while honing their athletic abilities. The themed weeks not only make each session engaging and memorable but also encourage children to explore their imagination and express themselves freely.
Sarah, the franchise owner, is dedicated to ensuring that Mini Athletics in Armagh provides a safe, supportive, and enriching experience for all participants.

The grand opening on the 14th September promises to be a day full of excitement, laughter, and active fun for kids of all ages.
