Love wool in Portadown is a warm and inviting community centred yarn shop and we are looking for a shop assistant with a high customer service focus.
It is important that you have a can-do attitude, would enjoy working with the public and are comfortable to work unsupervised within the shop environment.
To ensure a high level of customer service is maintained. To work accurately and diligently. To share your passion for wool crafts with our customers.
We also want you to be part of a wider team all with the same customer focused ideals and attention to detail.
Our aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming environment in which our customers feel at home and as such we need a warm, welcoming individual with a passion for knitting and crochet who wants to engage with like-minded people.
Responsibilities
- To greet customers entering the shop and assist shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for.
- To provide advice to customers regarding their knitting or crochet queries.
- To accept, sort, price, store and/or display merchandise.
- To process payments, handle cash.
- To handle customer complaints and queries.
- To keep the shop tidy and clean.
- To open/close shop, if required.
- To assemble kits and web orders.
- To work on your own without supervision but be part of a team.
- To work flexible hours which may include Saturday as required.
- To undertake appropriate training, as required.
- Any other duties that may be required by the Shop Owner.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good numeracy skills & attention to detail as the role will involve operating the till system, cash handling, stock take and kit assembly.
- Hands on knowledge of knitting and crochet.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within the retail sector.
- Experience of cash handling.
Further Information
The role requires a degree of flexibility to cover a range of hours including mornings, afternoons and Saturday’s.
